The only way to sustainably raise living standards is to improve productivity and on this metric, Saudi Arabia's performance is dismal, according to Bloomberg Economics. High oil prices papered over the cracks for a time, but their decline has exposed underlying weaknesses. Climate change and technology could further disrupt the market, highlighting the need for a new economic model in the Kingdom.
