(Bloomberg) -- A record $113.3 billion of mergers and acquisitions involving Canadian firms were announced in the third quarter as domestic companies continued to seek growth abroad, driving outbound deals to $77.7 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. This year, $238 billion of Canadian deals have been announced, the largest of which was Enbridge Inc.'s $28 billion acquisition of Spectra Energy Corp. That's slightly below the previous high, set in 2007, when $248 billion were announced through Sept. 30 in what became a record year for Canadian M&A, the data show.
