Bike taxi services like Rapido are expected to start in Mumbai in the next two months, NDTV Marathi reported, citing sources.
The Maharashtra Transport Department gave permission on Wednesday for bike services in Mumbai, according to the report. However, while granting permission for bike services, the department instructed special precautions to be taken for women's safety.
Earlier, bike services was available in cities like Delhi and Noida. Now, it will also be available to passengers in Mumbai.
Until now, states like Goa, Telangana, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have permitted bike taxis, while Maharashtra and Delhi had previously banned them.
