Ashok Leyland sales down 13.8 per cent in April

Hinduja Group company Ashok Leyland has reported 13.8 per cent decline in sales at 7,487 units in April, 2013.

The city-based heavy vehicle major had sold 8,686 units during the same month of previous year, Ashok Leyland said in a Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) filing.

Excluding its small commercial vehicle DOST, the company witnessed 19 per cent fall in commercial vehicle sales at 5,251 units last month from 6,468 units sold in April, 2012.

Sales of its small commercial vehicle DOST almost remained flat in April 2013 at 2,236 units as against 2,218 units sold in the same month of last year, the release said.

Shares of the company were trading at Rs 22.85 apiece, up by 0.22 per cent in the afternoon trade on the BSE.
