Amgen Announces $200-Million Investment In New Telangana Facility
Speaking on the occasion, CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the Telangana government's vision of transforming into a $1-trillion economy and positioning itself as a China Plus One destination.
US biopharma giant Amgen announced on Monday a $200-million investment in its new facility in Hyderabad, with plans for significant future investments.
This statement was made by Chief Executive Officer Robert Bradway during the inauguration of the facility by Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
"Amgen is investing an initial $200 million in this centre during 2025 and we plan to make additional significant investments in future years," Bradway said.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy highlighted the state government's vision of transforming into a $1-trillion economy and positioning itself as a China Plus One destination.
Reflecting on his visit to Amgen's R&D Centre in the United States last year, he praised the company's commitment to scientific innovation, transforming lives through research and advancements in medicines and biotechnology.
He highlighted Telangana's pioneering role in the life sciences, pharma, and biotech sectors, noting that some of the largest pharmaceutical companies are based in Hyderabad.
Discussing the China Plus One strategy, which encourages businesses to diversify manufacturing and supply chains beyond China, he stated his government's vision to position Telangana as an alternative and elevate Hyderabad into one of the world's greatest cities.
"We are committed to your success, your growth and your long-term vision. I request you to invest in research collaborations, skill development programmes and academic partnerships," the chief minister said.
