Ambuja Cements Ltd. entered a strategic partnership with Finland-based engineering firm Coolbrook to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emitted during its cement manufacturing process, according to a press release issued by the company on Monday.
Ambuja Cements plans to use Coolbrook's proprietary 'Roto-Dynamic Heater' technology to decarbonise its cement making operation and reduce its fossil fuel dependence.
The company said that this move will complement the measures it is taking to increase its use of alternative fuels and raw materials to 28% as well as achieving 60% usage of green power by 2028.

Leveraging our Adani Group's green power generation capabilities, we will be able to reduce fossil fuel dependence, costs, and emissions, ultimately delivering the best value for our stakeholders," said Ajay Kapur, chief executive officer of cement business, Adani Group.
The heating technology from Coolbrook leverages mechanical energy to generate high temperature using green power at highly competitive rates, the release said.
The process can substitute or minimise the use of fossil fuels to reach high temperatures in cement kiln pre-calciner, which is instrumental in cement manufacturing and has many other applications. It can significantly reduce emissions from the use of conventional fuels in a cement plant due to it being a carbon-free process, it added.
