(Bloomberg) -- Airbus SE delivered about 55 aircraft last month, according to people familiar with the matter, leaving the planemaker some way to go to meet its annual delivery target.
Airbus stuck to a revised goal of 700 deliveries for 2022 at a capital markets day last month, despite having reached just over half of that target in the first eight months of the year. The September tally would take shipments this year to around 437, leaving more than 250 aircraft to ship in the final three months of the year.
Airbus had originally targeted 720 deliveries for 2022, but scaled back its ambitions in July as it battled with shortages of parts and components, including engines. Chief Executive Officer Guillaume Faury said last month that the company was starting to get a handle on the engine issues, with fewer than 10 finished aircraft sitting without turbines, compared with 26 in July.
“There's a hell of a lot of work to be done,” Faury said of the 700-plane goal last month.
An Airbus spokesman declined to comment on deliveries before publication of the official figures next week.
