Air India Cuts Up To 5% Of Narrow-Body Aircraft Services Till July 15 Amid Technical Snags
The move comes days after the airline cut international operations on its widebody aircraft by 15%.
Air India has announced temporary suspension of two of its short-haul international flights and reduction in frequency of domestic flights in a bid to bolster operational stability in the wake of severe technical snags.
Services on three routes including Bengaluru-Singapore, Pune-Singapore and Mumbai-Bagdogra will remain suspended, while 19 domestic routes will see a reduction in frequency. The changes are effective until at least July 15, the airline said in a statement on Sunday.
The Tata Group confirmed that this decision will imply less than 5% reduction across its narrowbody network.
The move comes days after the airline cut international operations on its widebody aircraft by 15%, citing ongoing safety inspections and operational disruptions following the recent deadly crash of one of its Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
Routes Suspended:
Bengaluru to Singapore (AI2392/2393) – 7 weekly flights
Pune to Singapore (AI2111/2110) – 7 weekly flights
Mumbai to Bagdogra (AI551/552) – 7 weekly flights.
Routes with Reduced Frequency:
The reductions range from a single weekly flight to a decrease of several dozen flights per week on key domestic routes. Notable adjustments include:
-- Bengaluru-Chandigarh: halved from 14 to 7 weekly flights
-- Delhi-Bengaluru: slightly reduced from 116 to 113 weekly flights
-- Delhi-Mumbai: reduced from 176 to 165 weekly flights
-- Mumbai-Kolkata: decreased from 42 to 30 weekly flights
-- Mumbai-Goa (Dabolim): from 34 to 29 weekly flights
Other routes affected include Delhi to Kolkata, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Indore, Lucknow, and Pune; as well as Mumbai to Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, and Varanasi.
