Significant efforts have been made to restructure and rebuild BEML Ltd. by implementing numerous enabling mechanisms within the company, according to Chairperson Shantanu Roy.

On the sidelines of Aero India 2025, the managing director told NDTV Profit that the organisation was restructured into 11 strategic business units and two micro SBUs, one focusing on maritime and the other on a special economic zone.

A 12th strategic unit was established to support rail and metro projects in response to the increasing orders in this sector, Roy said.

The managing director shared the company's order book for the bullet train projects, currently valued at Rs 867 crore.

Over the last 18 months, Shantanu Roy said efforts had been made to expand the order book and create value for the country by reducing dependency on foreign original equipment manufacturers. Roy expressed satisfaction with the company's ability to serve the nation in this capacity.

He also mentioned that the first trial of the bullet train, a collaborative effort by multiple agencies, is expected by early 2027.

Regarding the defence sector, Roy said it comprises 40% of the total order book, which is around Rs 16,000 crore. In the next financial year, BEML anticipates an additional Rs 2,000–3,000 crore in orders from the rail and mining sectors, with smaller orders from the defence sector.

Roy emphasised that next year would be a "game changer" for the company as it would begin the execution of bulk orders for Vande Bharat and car body manufacturing for high-speed trains.

BEML also revealed its new logo, named Infinix, at the Aero India 2025 event. Roy highlighted that the company's new logo is a blend of a phoenix and the infinity symbol. "According to Vastu principles, anything that rises is considered positive, and the phoenix in the logo symbolises upward movement."
