A girl who went missing in the United States in 1994 at the age of 13 has been found alive more than three decades later, India Today reported. Citing authorities the report added that they confirmed that Christina Maria Plante, who disappeared from Arizona, has now been located and identified in 2026. She is currently 45 years old.

Christina, a resident of Star Valley in Arizona, was last seen on May 15, 1994. She had left her home to walk to a nearby stable but did not return.

According to the Gila County Sheriff's Office, she was reported missing after she "vanished without a trace." Despite search efforts and continued follow-ups over the years, no confirmed information about her whereabouts was found at the time.

Her disappearance remained unresolved for many years and eventually became what law enforcement describes as a "cold case." This term is used for investigations that remain open but have no new evidence for a long period.

Christina's case was included in the US missing children database, and her posters were circulated across the country in an effort to gather leads. However, the case continued without resolution for decades.

The Gila County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Christina has now been found alive. Officials did not release further personal details, stating that her privacy and well-being need to be protected.

Explaining how the case progressed, authorities said, "Using advances in technology, modern investigative methods, and a detailed review of the case, detectives developed fresh leads that eventually resulted in a breakthrough."

The case gained renewed attention after the sheriff's office created a Cold Case Unit to review unsolved cases in the county. This effort played a role in reopening investigations and examining old evidence with updated methods.

Officials said the development highlights the importance of revisiting long-pending cases.

"The case highlights how cold case reviews and evolving technologies can help bring long-awaited answers to families and communities," the sheriff's office said in its statement.

The sheriff's office also acknowledged the role of investigators, analysts, and community members who continued to keep the case active over the years.

Authorities added that they remain committed to investigating other unresolved cases and will continue efforts to find answers in similar long-standing investigations.
