Witnesses in Bangkok reported that people rushed into the streets in panic, with many hotel guests seen in bathrobes and swimming costumes, Reuters reported.
India’s National Center for Seismology confirmed on X that the epicentre was located in Myanmar’s Mandalay region, at a depth of 10 km. The quake hit at 12:02:07 IST, and its effects were felt strongly, resulting in widespread damage. Some reports indicated that the earthquake's magnitude reached 7.7, while India’s National Seismological Center (NSC) officially recorded it at 7.0.
A Thailand-based Asia News outlet shared a video showing a high-rise building collapsing in Bangkok and attributed the destruction to the earthquake. The visuals were so dramatic that the collapse appeared more like a controlled demolition, highlighting the intensity of the seismic event.
Another angle of the same video, taken from a distant road, shows cars stopping in the aftermath of the quake as the building collapses during the incident.
