Massive Earthquake Hits Myanmar: Terrifying Videos Capture Building Collapse In Bangkok – WATCH Videos

A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.7 struck Myanmar on Friday, March 28, sending shockwaves across the region. The quake also had a strong impact on neighbouring countries like Thailand and Vietnam. Soon, social media was flooded with shocking visuals, particularly from Thailand, where buildings were seen collapsing like a house of cards.

The visuals of buildings collapsing in Bangkok, located more than 1,000 kilometres away from the earthquake’s epicentre in Mandalay, Myanmar, signal the magnitude of the earthquake.

Witnesses in Bangkok reported that people rushed into the streets in panic, with many hotel guests seen in bathrobes and swimming costumes, Reuters reported.

India’s National Center for Seismology confirmed on X that the epicentre was located in Myanmar’s Mandalay region, at a depth of 10 km. The quake hit at 12:02:07 IST, and its effects were felt strongly, resulting in widespread damage. Some reports indicated that the earthquake's magnitude reached 7.7, while India’s National Seismological Center (NSC) officially recorded it at 7.0.

A Thailand-based Asia News outlet shared a video showing a high-rise building collapsing in Bangkok and attributed the destruction to the earthquake. The visuals were so dramatic that the collapse appeared more like a controlled demolition, highlighting the intensity of the seismic event.

Another angle of the same video, taken from a distant road, shows cars stopping in the aftermath of the quake as the building collapses during the incident.

Another video showed an under-construction skyscraper in Bangkok collapsing, with people fleeing for safety amid the chaos.

An undated video showed water from a rooftop pool spilling onto the road as people below panicked.

Widespread destruction has also been reported in Myanmar. Visuals emerged on social media, showing Myanmar's iconic Ava Bridge in Mandalay had collapsed following the event.
