Bahrain's interior ministry on Saturday said it had arrested 41 people it identified as being linked to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as the Gulf kingdom continues to grapple with the fallout of a regional conflict that has been raging since late February 2026.

The arrests mark one of the largest single security sweeps Bahrain has carried out since the war began.

The ministry said security authorities had uncovered a group linked to Iran's IRGC, and that investigations by the public prosecutor had also involved cases related to sympathy with Iranian attacks, according to the state news agency. No further details were provided on the identities or nationalities of those arrested.

The conflict began on Febr. 28 when Israel and the United States launched large-scale strikes on targets across Iran, code named 'Operation Roaring Lion' by Israel and 'Operation Epic Fury' by the United States.

Iran responded with a wave of retaliatory missile and drone strikes across the Gulf region. Bahrain, which hosts the US Navy's 5th Fleet headquarters in its capital Manama, was among the first countries to be targeted, with strikes hitting multiple buildings in Manama and Muharraq.

The Bahrain Defence Force has since announced that it intercepted 112 ballistic missiles and 186 drones since the start of the war. The kingdom has been on high alert, with its security forces working to root out alleged Iranian networks operating within its borders.
