Emilia Pérez took the Oscars by storm, setting a record for a non-English language film with 13 nominations. The film was followed by The Brutalist and Wicked, which tied with 10 nods in multiple categories. Anuja, a Hindi language filmbacked by actress Priyanka Chopra, also secured a nomination.

Emilia Pérez's achievement of 13 nods puts the Netflix movie alongside cinematic giants like All About Eve (1950), Titanic (1997), and La La Land (2016), which each received 14 nominations.

The 2025 Oscar nominations across 23 categories were announced Thursday morning by Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang, live from the Film Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater.

Notably, Anuja, also backed by Guneet Monga, received nomination for Best Live Action Short Film at the Oscars 2025. Monga previously won an Oscar for The Elephant Whisperers at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023.

Anuja was produced in collaboration with the Salaam Baalak Trust, a non-profit organisation founded by Mira Nair's family to support street and working children. Priyanka Chopra and Anita Bhatia served as executive producers, while Mindy Kaling and Oscar winner Guneet Monga were among the producers who joined the team to amplify the film's impact.

Directed by Adam J Graves, the film features Ananya Shanbhag, Sajda Pathan, and Nagesh Bhosle. It narrates the story of two sisters struggling to find joy and opportunity in a world intent on their exploitation and exclusion.
