Akshay Kumar's patriotic drama Kesari Chapter 2 appears to have struck the right chords with the audience, witnessing decent growth at the box office. Following a slow start on its opening day, the film experienced a major surge over the weekend.

Kesari Chapter 2 minted Rs 12.25 crore on its first Sunday, reported Sacnilk. With this, the total collection for the film stands at Rs 29.75 crore after three days of release.

Kesari Chapter 2 had an overall Hindi occupancy of 32.23% on April 20, with cities like Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai emerging as major crowd-pullers.

The film registered a modest 17.28% occupancy in the morning shows. The numbers improved steadily, with the occupancy rate for afternoon shows hitting 36.60% and evening shows recording 43.88% occupancy. By the end of day 3, the occupancy of the film hit 31.16%.

'A Key Advantage For Kesari Chapter 2'

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh in a post on X said that a key advantage for the movie is the absence of major releases until Raid 2 and The Bhootnii hit screens on May 1. "This gives Kesari Chapter 2 solid opportunity to achieve a healthy score." he said on Sunday.

The film is Akshay Kumar's one of the most successful ventures at the box office in recent years. The actor's last few releases, such as Khel Khel Mein, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Mission Raniganj, Selfie, Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan, and others, performed lower than expectations.

The Karan Singh Tyagi directorial focuses on the legal aftermath of the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film features Akshay Kumar as Sir C Sankaran Nair, a member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council, who resigned in protest of the massacre. He later sued General Reginald Dyer and the British Crown, revealing the truth behind the fatal incident.

R Madhavan plays Advocate Neville McKinleym, while Ananya Panday slips into the skin of Dilreet Gill, Nair's co-counsel.

Kesari 2 Chapter 2 is the sequel to the 2019 film Kesari, which depicted the Battle of Saragarhi, where 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army fought against an army of Pashtun tribesmen. The prequel featured Parineeti Chopra in a key role.
