Free God Of War Ragnarok Update Available; Download Dark Odyssey Collection As Freebie
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of God of War, Santa Monica Studio is releasing the Dark Odyssey Collection — a free update for God of War: Ragnarok.

In some great news for the gaming community, a free God Of War Ragnarok update is now available. You can download the God Of War Ragnarok Dark Odyssey Collection update as a freebie. It was made available to celebrate the game's 20th anniversary. The God of War franchise will turn 20 on March 22, marking two decades since the release of the original game on PlayStation 2. To honour this milestone, Santa Monica Studio is releasing the Dark Odyssey Collection update for God of War: Ragnarok.
It will be launching on March 20. The God Of War Ragnarok Dark Odyssey Collection update will be available for both PlayStation and PC players.
An announcement on the PlayStation blog said, “Inspired by the working name of God of War (2005) and the skin that originally appeared in God of War II as a reward for beating the game on God Mode difficulty, we are bringing the classic black and gold theme for the 20th anniversary.”
As part of the Dark Odyssey Collection, players will have access to exclusive skins for Kratos and Atreus, inspired by their appearances from earlier titles. One big feature is the Ghost of Sparta skin for Kratos, reminiscent of his alternate look in God of War 2. Originally, players could unlock this skin by completing the game on its highest difficulty.
Applying these skins to weapons will require players to have upgraded versions, adding an extra challenge to the experience.
These nostalgic skins can be accessed through lost item chests in-game or automatically through the free Valhalla DLC. This gives players a chance to relive the legacy of the franchise while engaging with new content in Ragnarok.
The announcement on the PlayStation blog also highlights a fan kit with digital collectibles, an art exhibition in Los Angeles and new merchandise. The merchandise includes a retrospective book set, art prints, a vinyl soundtrack collection, art prints and a 67-inch Jormungandr plush.
Despite speculation among fans about a possible remaster of the original trilogy, Santa Monica Studio has said that no such project is in the works, according to a report in Softonic. Instead, the studio is focused on improving the Ragnarok experience while keeping the spirit of the series alive.
The PlayStation blog also stated that God of War: Ragnarok titles are available at special discounts. PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra members can access God of War Ragnarok at no extra cost through the Game catalogue, while God of War (2018) is also included for Extra and Premium members. Apart from this, God of War III Remastered is available in the Classics catalogue for Premium members. On PC, both God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarok are on sale until March 20 on Steam and the Epic Games Store.
