Inspired by true events, the film explores crime, patriotism, espionage and betrayal in Pakistan's Lyari town. The movie has also become Ranveer Singh's biggest opener, beating his earlier hits Padmaavat and Simmba at the box office.
A month ago, a one-minute teaser of the movie was launched, confirming that the movie would be released on March 19.
The teaser offered a brief look at what audiences can expect from the film's second part. Ranveer Singh appears fierce and determined as a disguised Indian spy continuing his secret mission. The clip hints at intense action, suspense and high-stakes espionage as his character moves deeper into Pakistan's famed dangerous territory.
Dhurandhar Part 1:
In the first part, Singh plays an undercover Indian spy who infiltrates a powerful criminal-terror network in Lyari, Karachi. His character slowly gains the trust of feared gangster Rehman Dacait, played by Akshaye Khanna. In the first film, Rehman Dacait dies after suffering injuries in a crash following a violent confrontation with Hamza and Aslam, leaving a power vacuum in the syndicate.
In the sequel teaser, Singh's character is seen recreating several moments that earlier made Dacait popular with the audience. These scenes suggest that he may have successfully risen within the criminal network and become a key figure. The film will likely now focus on how Singh's character takes control within the criminal network.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the first part of Dhurandhar earned around Rs 838.5 crore in India net collections, making it the biggest Hindi film ever. Now, industry experts believe that the second part could also create a massive wave at the domestic box office, breaking many records.
