Will Carl Pei Wow Us Again With Nothing Phone 3a Design? Launch Today, Check Time

The Nothing company, led by Carl Pei, is launching the Nothing Phone 3a today, March 4. The series consists of two smartphones: Nothing Phone 3a and Nothing Phone 3a Pro. And, as in the past, apart from performance, the Nothing Phone's design is in the spotlight. Since its inception, Nothing has come out with distinctive designs for its phones over the years that make them standout from the crowd of other handsets. The Nothing Phone "look" is quite striking. 

What makes Nothing Phone's design unique are the tiny LEDs on the back, synchronised with phone sounds through the Glyph Interface. In 2024, Nothing Phone 2 and Phone 2a won the prestigious Red Dot Awards for its design, and the Phone 2 also received a label from the iF Design organisation. The iF label has been one of the biggest indicators of design excellence since 1954.

So, will Nothing wow us again with the Nothing Phone 3a design? Let’s see what recent design leaks indicate.

Nothing has already made public the alleged Nothing Phone 3a Pro model's design. It recently teased another phone, which is rumoured to be the vanilla Nothing Phone 3a. This one also has a Glyph Interface, but it’s not that extensive.

For the Phone 3a series, Nothing also posted a teaser image on X and the Flipkart website page. With its transparent back panel, glyph lighting interface, and centred horizontal camera module, the new Phone 3a series smartphone carries on the design language of the Phone (2a). The inclusion of a third camera sensor—likely a telephoto lens—is a significant distinction.

The rear design shows a pill-shaped Google Pixel-like camera module that houses three sensors. Three Glyph lights are arranged in a circle around the camera sensors on the Phone 3a. With the exception of the protruding camera module, the design is comparable to the Nothing Phone 3a Pro. In order to make room for a periscope telephoto camera, the Pro model has a circular camera module that protrudes considerably. 

The layout of the internal components, which is still visible through the transparent back, and the design of the camera ring surrounding the lenses are two more minor alterations.

When it comes to display, the Nothing Phone (3a) is expected to have a 6.72-inch AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate.

There also seems to be an extra button on the side of both Phone 3a versions, beneath the power button. It is anticipated that this button would make AI-powered functions like audio transcription and text summarisation possible.
