Meta-owned WhatsApp is adding four new Status features that will now allow users to express themselves more creatively. These new capabilities are beyond the already available status features like adding photos and videos.

WhatsApp users will now be able to add a collage, music and photo stickers to their status, and let friends and family get a glimpse of what's going on in their lives or what they’re interested in, in the most creative manner.

WhatsApp Status: New Features

Below are the all-new features rolling out to WhatsApp Status:

  • Layout: The instant messaging app will now enable users to make a collage right in the app. Users can choose a maximum of six pictures and turn them into a collage by using WhatsApp's editing tools and choose a layout of their liking.

  • More With Music: WhatsApp will now allow users to share a song of their liking directly on their status, allowing people in their circle to view what they love listening to. Users can even turn a song into a music sticker by adding a favourite track atop a picture or selfie and watch everyone respond to the creative post.

  • Photo Stickers: By utilising this new feature, users can turn a photo into a customised sticker to post on the status. Users can edit the photo as per their liking by cropping or resizing it.

  • Add Yours: Users can select a photo and apply the Add Yours sticker to include friends in a conversation. For instance, users could ask others to add "the last pet photo on your phone" or "the most precious picture from your last trip". When friends and contacts respond to the prompt, they can share it to their status and hear what their community has to say, too.

WhatsApp said that users' status is encrypted, and only people added as contacts can see it. It added that these features will start rolling out and will be available to everyone on WhatsApp over the next few months.
