After a brief lull, OnePlus has once again found itself under scrutiny, with fresh claims suggesting it could exit a handful of global markets. According to tipster Yogesh Brar on X, the brand is planning to scale down its footprint in certain regions.
“OnePlus is shutting down in select Global markets. China business will stay unaffected. India market will mostly get budget & mid-range products (Not a good news for US, UK & EU customers), (sic),” he wrote.

Should the claims prove accurate, it would represent a notable shift in OnePlus's global approach, especially in regions where it has traditionally pitched itself as an alternative to top-tier flagship brands.

It is worth noting that the claims remain unsubstantiated. OnePlus has yet to issue any confirmation, and both its senior leadership and regional teams have consistently refuted such suggestions since they first emerged earlier this year.
Dismissing the rumours, Robin Liu, CEO of OnePlus India, had described the claims as “false” in January 2026. Separately, OnePlus North America said in a statement to Android Authority that it continues to function normally, assuring users of ongoing support and updates.
“I wanted to address some misinformation that has been circulating about OnePlus India and its operations. We're operating as usual and will continue to do so. Never Settle,” Liu posted in January.
The current speculation gained traction following a report by Android Headlines, which suggested that OnePlus had begun pulling back in select territories. According to the publication, shipments dipped in 2024, certain devices were shelved, and staffing levels in the US and Europe were trimmed. It added that key decisions were increasingly being made in China, which could explain fewer product launches in Western markets.
The report also suggested that several devices had been shelved, including a second-generation foldable and a compact flagship model. However, OnePlus has yet to confirm any of these claims.
There is currently no immediate reason for alarm among users in India. OnePlus has earlier denied similar reports, and the latest claims do not indicate any withdrawal from the market. At most, they hint at a strategic tilt towards more affordable segments.
