Samsung is leading the charge in terms of foldable smartphones globally. In fact, its foldables are considered the best. While Chinese smartphone manufacturers have jumped onto that bandwagon, one major company missing is Apple. However, it too is developing a foldable iPhone. However, Samsung is not letting grass grow under its feet, it has reportedly moved ahead and is developing an even more versatile technological marvel - three-stage folding handset that is being dubbed as the Samsung 'G Fold' smartphone.

Notably, Samsung is reportedly developing a foldable mobile device that may well fold into three parts, according to a post from tipster Lanzuk who wrote for the South Korean blog 'Naver'.

According to the tipster, who has listed related companies and Ross Young, founder of Display Search, as sources, says the smartphone will be called the 'Samsung Galaxy G Fold'. And what is more, speculation has it that the release date is in January 2026.

Despite being similar to the Huawei Mate XT in its basic design concept, with its ability to fold into three parts, the G Fold is anticipated to be able to achieve this feat but be able to fold on both sides.

It was further indicated that the display size of the smartphone will be 9.96 inches and that the height after folding will be 6.54 inches.

The smartphone is also rumoured to be using a display and film that has been newly developed for it.

Samsung has also started rolling out its first software update of 2025 for a range of Galaxy devices. The update includes the January 2025 security patch, which addresses key security vulnerabilities and provides essential bug fixes to improve system stability and performance.

The January 2025 security patch updates close to 30 vulnerabilities with five critical updates, the company's security bulletin said. The Korean phone firm has also released 22 specific fixes for its own devices.

This update is applicable to Samsung Galaxy S, Z Flip, A Series, and Note series of mobile phones

The update is meant to improve the overall security of these phones but does not contain any other major features.
