The government has stepped up its efforts to surveil any potential cybersecurity threats, as it remains on high alert post Operation Sindoor.

The focus is especially on cyber threats and system vulnerabilities originating from across the border, according to government sources. The Centre and MeitY have already been monitoring cyberattacks post-Pahalgam attacks on April 22.

Over the past week, cyberattacks targeting several Indian websites, especially of Army-linked academic institutions, have been reported post the Pahalgam attack.

On April 25, the Army College of Nursing website was hacked and defaced with graphic visuals. At least four Army Public Schools were also targeted by hackers earlier.

In the early hours of Wednesday, the Indian armed forces targeted a total of nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and PoK under Operation Sindoor. Among the nine sites targeted are the JeM headquarters in Bahawalpur and the LeT's in Muridke, both in Pakistan's Punjab province, PTI quoted officials as saying.

"Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted," the ministry said.

Operation Sindoor was in response to the Pahalgam terror attack two weeks ago that claimed the lives of 26 civilians.
