Many users shared that ChatGPT was not functioning for them on X (formerly Twitter).

ChatGPT, one of OpenAI's most known AI agents, is reportedly suffering an outage for users across the globe. Many users have taken to social media platforms like X (formerly twitter) to share that ChatGPT was not functioning for them.
With complaints about ChatGPT outage flooding in from various countries across the world, it appears to be a global problem. Additionally, the outage is rather recent, and the app is not answering any commands. Some users are experiencing difficulties logging in, while others reported "internal server error" when they send a chat request. This has impacted thousands of users, according to Downdetector, a platform that tracks outages online.
OpenAI has not yet disclosed any information regarding the cause of the outage or its scope.
ChatGPT Down: Reported Issues Much Higher Than Normal
Early morning today, there was a spike in the graph for ChatGPT outages reported in the last 24 hours, according to Downdetector, and it continues to rise as more people report the problem.
The heat map on Downdetector displays an outage based on user-submitted issue reports. While throughout the day, several issues may be reported, only when the volume of complaints is much greater than what is normal for that time of day does Downdetector report an event.
While almost 90% of users reported problems with the ChatGPT app, many had issues with the website too, even as some complained of login issues.

Not The First ChatGPT Outage
Today’s outage isn’t the first for ChatGPT. Notably, on Jan. 23 too, users were unable to access ChatGPT on the web or app due to a worldwide outage. Downdetector had received more than a thousand user reports regarding the service’s malfunction, and users complained about the AI chatbot on X.
OpenAI had acknowledged the problems, saying ChatGPT and its API experienced “degraded performance,” with a web page message by the company indicating that it was experiencing elevated error rates in the API.
OpenAI’s hero chatbot also encountered significant disruptions a day after Christmas last year, with many users complaining that ChatGPT wasn’t functioning for them.
