We’re just over a month away from the biggest tech event of the year: the launch of Apple’s iPhone 17 series. While the lineup is expected to comprise the iPhone 17, all-new iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, the Pro models are tipped to get the most upgrades.

According to the latest report from German publication iPhone-ticker.de, which falls in line with claims from the likes of Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple could unveil the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Pre-orders might begin on Sept. 12, with sales and deliveries starting on Sept. 19.

As per a recent Jefferies estimate, there could be a $50 price bump on the Pro models. The iPhone 17 Pro could cost $1,049, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max’s price could go up to $1,249.

The iPhone 17 Pro versions are expected to come with a larger camera bar, which will also make their profile thicker at 8.725mm. The Apple logo is anticipated to be repositioned lower because of the camera bar.
The Pro variants are likely to include a 48MP rear telephoto (up from 12MP), plus an improved 24MP selfie shooter. The Pro range will likely be able to record video from front and rear cameras simultaneously, with 8K videos coming as a first. They are also rumoured to get 8x (up from 5x) optical zoom, pro-grade camera app, and an extra Camera Control button.
It is said that the Pro models will transition from a titanium build to an aluminium frame, and Apple also intends to incorporate both glass and aluminium in the back panel. An anti-glare display featuring a matte finish option may be offered for them.
The A19 Pro chip will likely power the iPhone 17 Pro phones, paired with 12GB RAM and Apple-made Wi-Fi 7 chip. The iPhone 17 Pro Max is expected to house a larger, 5,000mAh+ battery, with the Pro models getting an upgraded MagSafe charger for quicker charging. The Pro and Pro Max may implement vapour chamber cooling and completely remove the SIM card tray, depending solely on eSIMs.
The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max could arrive in black, dark blue, white, and orange colours, although there have been rumours of grey, silver, and sky blue too.
