OpenAI has unveiled GPT-5, its most advanced AI model to date. According to the company, GPT-5 represents a major advancement in intelligence compared to earlier ChatGPT versions and offers enhanced performance in areas such as coding, mathematics, writing, healthcare, visual recognition, and more. GPT-5 is capable of determining when to provide quick responses and when to engage in deeper reasoning for expert-level answers, OpenAI said.
How To Use GPT‑5
To begin with GPT-5:
Go to ChatGPT.com on the web browser or download the mobile app.
Log in if you already have an account or create a new account.
In the input field, enter your question or prompt.
GPT-5 will offer an answer/response, automatically incorporating reasoning when it improves the answer.
You can enter further questions/prompts to have a back-and-forth conversation with GPT-5.
Subscribers with paid plans have the choice to select “GPT-5 Thinking” in the model selection menu. Alternatively, you can use a prompt such as “think deeply about this” to get an answer based on reasoning.
Who Can Use GPT-5, Availability And Access
GPT-5 will be available as the default model in ChatGPT now, in place of GPT-4o, OpenAI o3, OpenAI o4-mini, GPT-4.1, and GPT-4.5, OpenAI said.
GPT-5 is open to all users. For users on the free tier of GPT-5, there are limits to usage, and complete reasoning abilities might take some days to be fully implemented. When free users hit their GPT-5 usage cap, they will switch to GPT-5 mini, a more compact model.
The distinction between free and paid access to GPT‑5 lies in the amount of usage allowed. Plus subscribers enjoy higher usage limits than free users.
Pro subscribers enjoy unlimited access to GPT‑5 and have access to GPT-5 Pro, a new version offering improved reasoning that provides even more detailed and precise responses.
Customers in the Team, Enterprise, and Edu categories can also use GPT-5 as their primary model.
