Google has set the date for its annual Made by Google event on Aug. 20. Apart from the much-anticipated Pixel 10 series (comprising Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold), the tech major is tipped to launch the Pixel Watch 4.

While leaks for the Watch 4 have been relatively slim, a new report indicates that Google plans to enhance the personal safety functions on the Pixel Watch 4, introducing another welcome health feature.

The Android Headlines report shows that the Pixel Watch 4 will come with a Breathing Emergencies feature. The new function will continuously monitor a person's SpO2 levels. SpO2, or oxygen saturation, measures the percentage of oxygen-carrying haemoglobin in someone's blood.

It will utilise an SpO2 sensor located on the rear of the Pixel Watch 4 to track blood oxygen levels. The Watch 4 will notify you if it detects low oxygen levels in the event of breathing emergencies.

This feature follows Google's implementation of the Loss of Pulse function last year in the Pixel Watch, which utilises a heart rate sensor. The feature automatically connects with emergency services if it notices irregularities or missing heartbeat in a user.

Google Pixel Watch 4 Features And Price

On the personal safety front, the Pixel Watch already includes Emergency SOS, Crash Detection, and Fall Detection. Google is reportedly now introducing Emergency Satellite Communications as well.

Regarding hardware enhancements, the Pixel Watch 4 is expected to feature the same Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 processor from the previous two iterations. The Watch 4 is anticipated to come in 41mm and 45mm sizes, both offering Bluetooth and LTE connectivity. The 41mm version is likely to house a 327mAh battery, while the 45mm model could pack a 420mAh cell.

The biggest news is that Google will allow Pixel Watch 4 repairs, meaning users don't have to replace the complete watch every time there's a problem with the battery, screen, or other hardware.

Currently, there are no price hikes expected for the Pixel Watch 4. Notably, the Watch 3 launched at $349.
