Google is reportedly working on a major update for its Pixel phones. Its popular “At a Glance” feature on Pixel smartphones is being upgraded to link real-time, helpful information right on the home and lock screens. This update is meant to expand the capabilities of the model, adding new cards for sports scores, birthday reminders and more.

According to a report by 9To5 Google, the “At a Glance” feature will be available on the lock screen. The always-on display and the cards can adjust to match the clock size and layout.

The update was first found in the Android Canary release. Google has released the Android Canary release channel to replace its traditional developer previews.

The report added that the improved features are one of the biggest upgrades to “At a Glance” in a long time. These features were previously seen in “Gemini Space”, but they are directly named as a part of “At a Glance” in this early build, the 9To5 Google report added.

Moreover, Google is likely to introduce more advanced features, such as finance updates and “Daily Hub” tips for the Pixel models. The “Daily Hub” feature may work like Samsung’s “Now Brief”.

For now, it’s unclear when this update will launch. The report suggested that Google may release these improved features with the upcoming Pixel 10 or with the Android 16 update. The tech giant has not made any announcement yet, but the Android 16 update is currently available in a beta version.

While anticipation builds around the latest features that will come with this upgrade, reports indicate that it may still be missing a key feature linked to “At a Glance”. The “At a Glance” widget, which has been a part of the Pixel devices for years, still cannot be disabled completely.

Even though Google is working to make this feature optional, for now, it remains a static part of the home screen.
