Imagine that you're planning a holiday and you get all the information, ranging from tickets and offers, to things to do at your destination, to weather updates, to where to dine and drink, using artificial intelligence.

Or if you're working out on a summer camping trek, you get the perfect foldable camping chair that would fit in your backpack, with AI powering your search, recommending chairs that fit your budget, along with providing product data and shopping links.

These are only some of the capabilities Google is introducing with the rollout of a new AI Mode in Search.

Google Levels Up Search With AI Mode

Google is taking search a notch up with the launch of the AI Mode. The AI Mode creates a more intelligent search engine experience by fusing AI capabilities with real-time information availability from Search.

According to Google, using the mode, users can ask Search everything "from complex explanations about tech and electronics to comparisons that help with really specific tasks, like assessing insurance options for a new pet".

The company is also adding new tools to ease the shopping experience for users. In the coming week, visual place and product cards in AI Mode will start to appear, with the option to tap for additional information.

For instance, if you're looking for a product, you will discover shoppable alternatives with real-time prices (including offers and promotions), photos, shipping information and local inventory. For local establishments, such as restaurants, salons and stores, you can easily get information like ratings, reviews and opening hours.

Google said this is made possible by updated information about businesses and its Shopping Graph, which has over 45 billion product listings, ranging from local stores to those around the world, with more than 2 billion product listings updated every hour.

Who Can Use AI Mode?

Restricted until now to Labs users, Google will now offer AI Mode capabilities to select users outside of Labs, who will be able to see the AI Mode tab in Search. Also, Google is "removing the waitlist so anyone in the US can now get immediate access to AI Mode in Labs" and adding new features to help users get things done, it said.

However, as of now, the feature would still be available to US users, and Google has not declared if and when it will be expanded to other markets and users. Such a powerful search experience using AI would be welcome by global users as well.
