Apple is reportedly working on foldable devices, the first of which may be launched as early as 2026. According to reports, Apple’s first foldable iPhone may be available in 2026, while a foldable iPad may make its debut in 2028.

Although it was first anticipated that the foldable iPad would launch first, it now seems like the foldable iPhone is taking precedence. In a bid to revive the iPhone lineup and move from cosmetic changes every year, Apple intends to release an iPhone that is thinner than the present versions, which have a profile of about 8 millimetres.

The foldable iPhone would unfold to a display that is around 7 inches in size, greater than the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which has a 6.9-inch screen.

According to industry rumours, the iPhone would have a flexible OLED display that can withstand hundreds of thousands of folds. After experimenting with external foldable displays, Apple has apparently changed its focus to an inward-folding design that is more in line with the majority of foldable devices available today. The iPhone is also expected to pack a powerful chip and high-end cameras, along with a premium design.

With regard to the foldable iPad, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg wrote that it’s “like a giant iPad that unfolds into the size of two iPad Pros side-by-side.” He added that the “higher-end device” is a “single, uninterrupted piece of glass.”

Gurman added that the foldable iPad will probably run an iPadOS version, but might have elements of both iPad and Mac and even run macOS apps.

Instead of producing a tablet that might not be the best fit for a user’s pocket, Apple appears to be concentrating on a foldable that offers far larger screens that are small enough to carry in a backpack. According to reports, the larger tablet is expected to have a 19-inch display when unfolded.

Apple’s focus is on preventing creases on its gadgets. Although the crease is already almost undetectable, Apple has not yet completely removed it, according to reports.
