Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series launch is expected around mid-September 2025. While the US tech giant is yet to confirm the date, analyst David Phelan predicts that the iPhone 17 series launch is most likely expected on Sept. 9.

The launch of the latest device from Apple is unlikely in the first week of September, as it clashes with the major consumer electronics event, IFA, in Berlin. Phelan also predicted that the launch may not happen beyond Sept. 15 unless Apple faces a production delay roadblock.

Ahead of the iPhone 17 launch, there’s plenty of buzz about new features and Apple’s recent iOS 26 update. As fans eagerly await, here’s a look at what new products are expected from Apple in the coming months.

Is Apple Working On New Display Technology?

A Forbes report said that Apple is developing new OLED display technology for the iPhone that uses less power. While it may not appear on the iPhone 17 or 18, this upgrade promises improved visuals.

“Apple is reviewing a plan to apply a new low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) organic light-emitting diode (OLED) to the iPhone series to be released in 2027 at the earliest,” the 9to5mac reported earlier, quoting TheElec.

Apple iOS26

Three days after announcing its latest iPhone software, iOS 26, on June 9, Apple released a second public build of iOS 26. According to the report, this unexpected move was meant to possibly address battery or security issues. One of the key highlights for this update is smart storage, which dynamically manages memory during installs and updates by reserving space.

If you are unfamiliar with this technology, Apple already uses temporary storage management during updates, but the new feature may enable the system to actively reserve and manage space continuously as part of background maintenance.

Apple’s Upcoming MacBook Pro Upgrade

There is a lot of speculation about Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro upgrade in 2026. It is expected to feature a major redesign, replacing LED displays with advanced OLED technology.

"The OLED MacBook Air is also expected to get a standard single-stack display, rather than the more sophisticated Two-Stack Tandem displays we reported on for the MacBook Pro. Single-stack displays have one red, green and blue layer, while two-stack tandem OLED has a second RGB layer. Two layers stacked in tandem increase the brightness of the screen, while also increasing longevity,” the Forbes report added.

What Can Fans Expect Apple’s Gen AI Updates

While Apple continues to lag behind other players in the generative AI space, fans may have to wait longer than 2026 for any practical release.

In a recent research shared by Apple, it also questioned the claims of AI competitors like OpenAI, dismissing their advanced models’ “reasoning” abilities.

In particular, the researchers assail the claims of companies like OpenAI that their most advanced models can now "reason" –  a supposed capability that the Sam Altman-led company has increasingly leaned on over the past year for marketing purposes – which the Apple team characterizes as merely an "illusion of thinking”, the Forbes report mentioned, citing the research.
