English batter is missing out on the IPL to fulfill his national commitments. The tournament’s Governing Council has banned him for 2 years since he had opted out of last year’s IPL as well. Delhi Capitals had bought him for Rs 6.25 crore.
Players Likely To Miss Start Of IPL
Pat Cummins (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
World Cup-winning Australia captain Pat Cummins, who picked up an ankle injury during the Border-Gavaskar trophy, is currently in rehab.
The bowler told ESPN Cricinfo, "The ankle is all going strong, [have been] able to give it a good rest and then been building up slowly, which you don't get to do when you play lots of cricket. It's feeling as strong as it has for a fair while. Should be fine [for the IPL], that's the plan. So have a few weeks of bowling, building back up and then hopefully don't have to worry about it for a while."
Cummins also missed the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 due to an ankle injury.
Josh Hazlewood (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood is recovering from a hip injury and is likely to miss out on the initial stages of RCB's campaign. RCB has their task cut out to manage his workload well so that he can play throughout the rest of the season. He was the most expensive Australian player in the auction, being bought for Rs 12.5 crore.
Lockie Ferguson (Punjab Kings)
New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson hurt his hamstring while playing in the UAE's International League T20 (ILT20). It ruled him out of the Champions Trophy, and he is likely to miss the IPL as well.
Mayank Yadav (Lucknow Super Giants)
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) fast bowler Mayank Yadav will be missing the first half of IPL 2025 as he is recovering from a lumbar stress injury. He is undergoing rehab and has resumed bowling at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Jasprit Bumrah (Mumbai Indians)
Jasprit Bumrah is likely to miss the initial rounds of the IPL 2025 matches for Mumbai Indians as the star pacer is still recovering from the lower back injury that rendered him out of action since January.
"His recuperation is going well. But at this stage it is better to give him some more time to return to peak fitness, considering India's Test series against England in June," a source close to the development told PTI.
