Tickets for the historic India-Japan T20I on September 22 have sold out, the Japan Cricket Association (JCA) announced as anticipation builds around the first-ever official international cricket meeting between the two nations.
The one-off T20I will be played at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan, with the match scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM IST. The fixture is being played under the Suzuki Cup and will commemorate the 75th anniversary of India-Japan diplomatic relations.
The JCA announced on social media that tickets for the match had sold out and thanked supporters for their response to the historic fixture.

India vs Japan: A Historic First
The clash will mark the first official international cricket fixture between the senior men's teams of India and Japan. The JCA and BCCI jointly announced the fixture earlier this month.
The match will also launch “Sport 75”, an initiative aimed at promoting people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between India and Japan through sport. The initiative stems from an agreement reached during a summit between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The BCCI is delighted to be part of this historic occasion as the Indian and Japanese men's teams come together for a special T20 International in Japan. This is a significant moment for cricket, as it takes the Indian team to new territory and provides an opportunity to introduce the sport to a wider audience in Japan and East Asia,” said BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia.
“The BCCI believes that the growth of cricket must extend beyond its traditional territories, and as the world's largest cricket board, we recognise our responsibility to contribute to that growth. The BCCI will work closely with the JCA to further strengthen cricket in Japan and to build on this relationship in the years ahead,” he added.
The initiative aims to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between India and Japan through sport, while also taking into account India's ambition to host the 2036 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The fixture will also give Japan the opportunity to play against India, the reigning men's T20 World Cup champions, on home soil.
The game comes just two days before the men's cricket competition at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya.
With tickets now sold out, the Sano International Cricket Ground is set for a packed occasion when India and Japan take the field on September 22.
