East Bengal FC and Mohun Bagan Super Giant will face off in a Kolkata Derby in the final of the 135th Durand Cup on Sunday.
The clash brings together two of Indian football's biggest rivals for the tournament's title-decider after both teams came through their respective semifinals on penalties.
How EBFC Reached Durand Cup Final
East Bengal booked their place in the final after drawing 0-0 with SC Delhi in the first semifinal, then winning 5-4 on penalties. The match produced several opportunities, but neither side managed to break the deadlock during regulation time.
Goalkeeper Prabhsukran Singh Gill emerged as one of East Bengal's key performers. He denied Rodriguinho from the penalty spot during regulation time before making another crucial save against Juan Sebastian Pena in the shootout. Mohamad Basim Rashid then converted the decisive spot-kick to send East Bengal into the title clash
How MBSG Reached The Final
Mohun Bagan secured their place in the final a day later, beating defending champions NorthEast United FC 4-3 on penalties after the second semifinal also ended in a goalless draw. The second semifinal was played in wet conditions, with both sides struggling to establish control in midfield and create clear-cut opportunities.
The match was eventually decided by penalties. After both teams converted their first three attempts, Vishal Kaith saved Robin Yadav's fourth kick before Jamie Maclaren converted to put Mohun Bagan ahead. Kaith then denied Parthib Gogoi to seal a 4-3 shootout victory and his team into the final.

The derby between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan, popuarly known as the Salt Lake stadium, in Kolkata will start from 5 p.m. Indian Standard Time on Sunday.
