In its analyst meet, Indian Energy Exchange Ltd.'s management highlighted its strategy of -
- improving its presence within the short term market, and
- diversification into markets such as gas and coal.
Its Real Time Market continues to perform well and the company expects volumes to grow as demand rises. Concerns have been raised over the implementation of market coupling.
However, the management does not expect it to come in the near future.
While we keep a keen eye on the implementation of coupling, we agree with the above view and see market coupling as an enabling provision for discussion over future market design.
