Doon Prepares for Yoga Day Ahead of PM's Visit

PM Modi will stay at the Raj Bhawan on the night of 20 June and will take part in the yoga day event early next morning at the FRI lawns with its iconic British-era building in the backdrop, along with an estimated crowd of 50,000 people, before leaving for New Delhi, an official said.

A release from the FRI said its campus will remain closed on 19-20 June as various measures are being undertaken to clean its premises, spread over an area of about 500 hectares.

Several 'Walk for Yoga' events have been held in the city since Saturday, including the ones by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, his Cabinet colleagues, and police officials led by Director General of Police Anil Raturi.

Leading the walk, the chief minister appealed to people to make yoga an integral part of their lives, saying that a healthy India cannot be imagined without yoga becoming part of every Indian's daily routine.

Huge Preparations Underway to Mark Four Years

On the occasion of fourth International Yoga Day, 2,000 CAPF personnel will take part in the function at Forest Research Institute (FRI) in Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

The Delhi Development Authority will hold mega yoga sessions at some of its biggest parks and sports complexes from 5: 30 am to 8 am.

A dedicated yoga cell has been set up by the Delhi Police, which is relentlessly educating personnel about the importance of yoga. A yoga demonstration is being organised by the NDMC at Rajpath.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has been designated as the nodal force to conduct yoga demonstrations in Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) has been designated as the nodal force for coordination among the CAPF personnel for mass yoga demonstration in Dehradun.

Observe Yoga Day, Send ‘Proof': MP Guv Anandiben to Colleges

Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel has directed all state universities and colleges to observe International Yoga Day, ANI reported.

In a circular, issued on 6 June, Patel instructed all universities and affiliated colleges to organise daylong programmes on International Yoga Day and submit details like photos, CDs and number of participants, The Indian Express reported.

In another circular, issued on 12 June, she appointed the Rajiv Gandhi Technological University as the coordinator of the event and directed universities and colleges to submit videos and photographs of the 21 June events by 4 pm on the same day, the daily reported.

On a similar note, West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi issued a similar circular earlier this month, directing vice-chancellors of all state universities to observe International Yoga Day, ANI reported.

Sadhguru to Impart Yoga Training to Soldiers at Siachen on 21 June

Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev will visit the army personnel guarding the Siachen base camp in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir on International Day of Yoga on 21 June.

He will impart training to tackle the challenges posed by high altitude.

Sadhguru, the founder of Coimbatore-based Isha Foundation, arrived at Leh Army base on 19 June and addressed a group of 350 soldiers and officers ahead of his interaction with army personnel at Siachen, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the foundation Rahul Dubey told PTI.

Indian Embassy in Japan Observes Yoga Day

The Indian Embassy in Japan celebrated International Yoga Day 2018 on 19 June at the Japanese Parliament. The session was organized by the Embassy of India Tokyo and the Parliamentary League for Promotion of Yoga in Japan, in association with major Yoga organizations in Japan including the Yoga Organization of Japan, Art of Living, Patanjali Yoga among others.
