Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a roundtable with 21 top executives of U.S.-based companies including Apple, Microsoft and Google in Washington DC on Sunday.
Modi told the elite group of American business leaders that his government had introduced 7,000 reforms to cut red tape. "The whole world is looking at India... India's growth presents a win-win partnership for India and U.S. both. U.S. companies have a great opportunity to contribute to that," he was quoted as saying by External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Gopal Baglay on his official Twitter handle.
The implementation of the landmark initiative of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) could be a subject of studies in U.S. business schools, Modi said.

The CEOs round table was attended by Apple chief Tim Cook, Walmart head Doug McMillon, Caterpillar's Jim Umpleby, Google head Sundar Pichai and Microsoft's Satya Nadella.
Others in attendance included Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Johnson & Johnson's Alex Gorsky, Mastercard's Ajay Banga, Warburg Pincus's Charles Kaye and Carlyle Group's David Rubenstein.

The prime minister, who is on a two-day visit to the U.S., will later meet with the members of the Indian community in neighbouring Virginia.
On Monday, Modi will visit the White House for his first bilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.
