Doing justice to the legacy of the HRD ministry under the Modi government's rule, India's Human Resource Development Minister, Prakash Javadekar has rewritten history, sprinkling it liberally with spice.

At a meeting on Monday in Chindwara in Madhya Pradesh, Javadekar committed a major blooper after he said former PM Jawahar Lal Nehru and Sardar Patel were hanged.

The faux pas came when Javadekar at the public rally was saluting the ones who gave their lives in helping India gain independence from the British in 1947. In the heat of the moment, Javadekar put Nehru and Patel in the same bracket as Bhagat Singh and Rajguru and thanked them for going to the gallows to ensure India's independence.

The fight for independence that lasted 90 years culminated when we threw the British out. We salute all those freedom fighters…. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Sardar Patel, Pandit (Jawahar Lal Nehru), Bhagat Singh and Rajguru who were hanged.
