Not a Wave, a BJP Tsunami Is Coming to Himachal: Amit Shah

A day after the BJP announced two-time chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal as its CM candidate in the upcoming 9 November assembly elections, party chief Amit Shah upped the campaigning ante in the state.

Speaking at a rally in Mandi, Shah said a BJP wave was coming to the hill state as he expressed confidence that the BJP would win. Addressing Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, Shah said:

Rahul baba, the writing is on the wall. BJP is coming to power in Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier in the day, incumbent chief minister Virbhadra Singh said PM Narendra Modi and Shah were afraid of losing, which is why they have put Dhumal in the forefront. He pointed out that earlier it was expected that Union Minister JP Nadda would be the face of the party this election, but the BJP went with Dhumal. The latter's mass connect in the hill state seems to have tipped the scale in his favour.

The hill state goes to polls on 9 November. The results will be announced on 18 December.
