(Bloomberg) -- NJ Transit briefly suspended train service in both directions Friday morning between New York Penn Station and Newark Penn Station after a trespassing incident, disrupting the morning rush-hour commute.
As of about 7 a.m. New York time, service had resumed, but trains to Penn Station were delayed as much as 60 minutes. The cause was “an Amtrak trespasser strike” in Secaucus, NJ Transit said on Twitter.
Just Thursday night, New Jersey Transit sent out an alert to riders that the agency would resume full service today after its system was hobbled by a snowstorm.
Rail commuters have grown increasingly frustrated with New Jersey Transit as they deal with crowding and delays.
The nation's second-largest commuter railroad, a key link to New York City jobs, is beset by fiscal and safety troubles. Federal data show it has the most accidents and fines among its peers.
New Jersey residents made up 14 percent of Manhattan's workforce in 2014.
