LSE Hires Citigroup Exec Roos to Head Capital Markets

(Bloomberg) --

London Stock Exchange Group Plc hired a former Citigroup Inc. executive to run its capital markets business, filling a senior role ahead of its takeover of data group Refinitiv.

Murray Roos will start in April as head of capital markets, replacing Raffaele Jerusalmi whose departure from this role was announced last year, according to a company statement Thursday. Jerusalmi remains CEO of Borsa Italiana and an LSE board member.

Roos was most recently Citigroup's global co-head of equities and securities services. LSE Chief Executive Officer David Schwimmer said Roos brings experience in developed and emerging capital markets.

LSE's capital markets business has underperformed other divisions in recent years, hit by the malaise in equities trading and a slump in listings. Schwimmer is looking to revive the unit's fortunes as well as consummate the group's $27 billion deal to buy data giant Refintiv.

Last month, LSE shuffled senior management at its trading technology subsidiary. Schwimmer is also seeking a new CFO to replace David Warren, who plans to retire by the end of the year.
