(Bloomberg) -- Democrat Ned Lamont, a Greenwich telecommunications executive, is projected to win the Connecticut governor's race, according to CNN and NBC.
- NOTE: Lamont was able to successfully distance himself from his fellow Democrat, the state's unpopular governor, Dannel Malloy
- Lamont defeated Republican Bob Stefanowski, a former executive at General Electric Co., and Independent Oz Griebel; Lamont had criticized the budget management of Malloy, whose approval rating is just 23 percent, and cast himself as a business-friendly candidate who would seek concessions from government employees
