PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a flagship scheme of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government, aimed at addressing the financial needs of farmers to boost agricultural productivity.

Managed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, this initiative has been playing a big role in helping farmers to take care of their agricultural expenses.

The central government provides an annual aid of Rs 6,000 to all the eligible farmers in the country through this scheme. This amount gets transferred to the bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 every four months.

The farmers are waiting for the 20th instalment of the flagship scheme, which is expected to be disbursed soon.

As of now, 19 instalments of the PM-KISAN scheme have been disbursed to the verified accounts of the eligible beneficiaries. The 19th instalment was released by Prime Minister Modi at an event in Bihar's Bhagalpur in February. More than 9.7 crore beneficiaries across India received the financial assistance, which amounted to around Rs 22,000 crore.

Operational since Dec. 1, 2018, PM Kisan is a central sector scheme that is 100% funded by the Government of India. The state governments and Union Territory administrations have to identify all the eligible farmer families to receive the support, as per the scheme guidelines.

PM-KISAN: When To Expect 20th Instalment

With the last instalment getting released in February this year, the beneficiaries can expect the next one to be issued this month.

As per reports, the 20th instalment of the PM scheme could get transferred to the bank accounts of farmers in the first or second week of June. But there is no official announcement regarding this from the government yet.

In order to receive the next instalments, farmers must ensure that they have completed all their necessary formalities, including e-KYC and linking their Aadhaar to bank accounts.

To qualify for the PM Kisan scheme, a beneficiary must be a citizen of India, own cultivable land, not be a pensioner receiving Rs 10,000 or more per month, must not have filed income tax and not be an institutional landholder.
