Parshuram Jayanti 2025 Bank Holiday: Banks To Remain Shut In This State On April 29
Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Banks will be closed in Hamachal Pradesh on Tuesday, April 29, on the occasion of Bhagvan Shri Parshuram Jayanti. The state observes a public holiday on Parshuram Jayanti, which is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram, who is believed to be the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, as per Hindu mythology.
According to the RBI calendar, April 29 will be a bank holiday only in Himachal Pradesh as the state is observing a public holiday on account of Parshuram Jayanti.
This means that public offices, banks, schools and government institutions, including both public and private sector banks, will remain closed in the hill state on Tuesday.
Will Online Banking Services Be Available?
While physical banking operations will remain shut in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday, online services such as UPI, net banking and ATM transactions will be available. Customers are advised to check with their regional branches before planning any branch visit activities to avoid inconvenience.
Significance Of Parshuram Jayanti
Parshuram, a warrior sage, was born to sage Jamadagni and his wife Renuka. His name finds mention in several Hindu texts and it is believed that he still exists on Earth to aid Kalki, the 10th reincarnation of Lord Vishnu. He is one of the seven immortals, or Sapta Cheeranjivis, on Earth, as per Hindu mythology.
On Parshuram Jayanti, devotees take a holy dip in the Ganga river and participate in religious processions to honour the lord’s birth.
Parshuram Jayanti is celebrated on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya Tithi in the month of Vaishakh, as per the Hindu calendar.
Bank Holidays In April 2025
Parshuram Jayanti in Himachal Pradesh marks one of the final holidays of the month before April comes to an end. On April 30, banks in Karnataka will remain shut on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
The month of April had as many as 11 holidays on weekdays in several states. Some of the prominent holidays included Good Friday and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti. These were recognised as a public holiday in nearly all states. Meanwhile, some other holidays were mostly limited to certain states as per regional calendars.
Moreover, the second and fourth Saturdays were also observed as holidays for banks across India, as directed by the RBI.
