In a major counter-terror operation, security forces neutralised three terrorists in the Lidwas area near Srinagar on Monday, NDTV reported. The encounter, part of a joint mission dubbed Operation Mahadev, involved the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
NDTV has further learnt Special Forces have been roped in as well for the operation which was launched early in the day following specific intelligence inputs about terrorist movement in the Mulnar area of Harwan, close to the Dachigam National Park. As forces closed in, a fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the deaths of three militants. Officials have described the slain individuals as “high-value” targets, though their identities have not yet been disclosed.
The Indian Army's Chinar Corps confirmed the development on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, Security forces have cordoned off the area and are conducting combing operations to rule out the presence of any additional threats. Reinforcements were rushed to the site as the gunbattle intensified
