Mumbai Rains Updates: IMD Issues Red Alert In City; Predicts Heavy Rainfall In Maharashtra Till Aug. 21

Many areas in Borivali - Andheri - Bandra stretch will get heavy to intense rain for next few hours, according to weather forecaster Rushikesh Agre.

"Movement is very slow to expect heavy downpour in next hours," he added.

Byculla recieved the highest rainfall at 102.5 mm in Mumbai from 08:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 16. Followed by, Colaba, Chembur and Mahalaxmi with 36.8 mm, 33.5 mm and 31 mm respectively.

IMD Predicts that, Mumbai City, Palghar, Raigarh, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Suburban Mumbai districts, Konkan & Goa - North Goa, South Goa, to see moderate to high flash flood risk during next 24 hours.

"Moderate to High flash flood risk likely over few watersheds & neighbourhoods of following Met Sub-divisions during next 24 hours. Konkan & Goa - North Goa, South Goa, Mumbai City, Palghar, Raigarh, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Suburban Mumbai districts. Surface runoff/ Inundation may occur at some fully saturated soils & low-lying areas over Area of Concern (AoC) as shown in map due to expected rainfall occurrence in next 24 hours," it added.

The heavy rainfall activity over Maharashtra is very likely to continue during 16-21 August 2025, as per IMD prediction.

South Mumbai and Navi Mumbai to get more heavy rains in the next hour, predicted popular Mumbai weather forecaster Rushikesh Agre.

"South Mumbai & Navi Mumbai getting lot of heavy downpours since last 2 hrs. More heavy rains to continue for next hour, Western suburbs will also get heavy rain in next mins. Looks huge rain band. Avoid unnecessary travel," Agre wrote on X.
