Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday said that the monsoon rains, which arrived early this year, have caused widespread damage in the state.
Vijayan urged those living in areas prone to flooding and landslides to move to safer locations or relief camps, as per PTI.

Weather News Today Live: IMD Issues Red Alert For Kerala's 8 Districts
The heavy monsoon rains and accompanying strong winds damaged homes, power lines and crops in many parts of Kerala, with the India Meteorological Department on Thursday issuing a red alert for eight districts of the state.
The IMD has issued a red alert in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts for the day and an orange alert in the remaining six districts.

The IMD on Thursday predicted thunderstorms to occur in parts of Andhra Pradesh for three days from May 29 to 31.
The thunderstorms are expected to be accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds up to 50 km per hour, in isolated places of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, said IMD.
