Flight operations have come to a halt at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport because of technical glitches in the Air Traffic Control Systems. More than 100 flights were affected Friday morning, as per news reports.

The glitch occurred because of the Aeronautical Mobile Satellite Service outage at the Airports Authority of India. AMSS is used for communication between pilots and Air Traffic Control stations.

Some flights are facing delays as much as 30 minutes because of the technical issue. The operational glitch not only affected flights to and from the Delhi International Airport but across the northern India. Passengers expressed their frustrations through posts on social media.

However, airport officials are quoted in media that the technical teams are already working at the issue and the operations are gradually being restored.

IndiGo confirmed the problem as it issued a statement apologising to passengers. The airline said that it understands the inconvenience passengers are facing and asked them to be patient. Its teams are working to make sure the wait time is as smooth as possible for the passengers.

IndiGo passengers can check their flight status and other updates on its website, the airline said in a post on X.
