The Defence Acquisition Council, headed by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved on Tuesday multiple military procurement proposals valued at Rs 67,000 crore.

Acceptance of necessity was provided to the Indian Army to acquire 'thermal Imager-based driver night sight', enhancing night driving capability of BMP along with giving higher mobility and operational advantage to the mechanised infantry, according to a press release by the Ministry of Defence.

The Indian Navy will procure a "compact Autonomous Surface Craft, BrahMos Fire Control System and Launchers and Upgradation of BARAK-1 Point Defence Missile System". This will help the Indian Navy in detection, classification and neutralisation of threats in anti-submarine warfare missions.

The Indian Air Force will obtain "Mountain Radars and Upgradation of SAKSHAM/SPYDER Weapon System." This procurement will improve air surveillance capability along and across the borders in the mountainous region.

Further, the integration of the SAKSHAM/SPYDER System with Integrated Air Command and Control System will improve the Air Defence capability.

Additionally, AoN was also awarded for the procurement of Medium Altitude Long Endurance, Remotely Piloted Aircraft for the three Services.
