Bihar Election 2025: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday announced an incentive hike for ASHA and Mamta workers ahead of the state polls due later this year. ASHA workers will now receive an incentive of Rs 3,000, up from Rs 1,000, while Mamta workers will get Rs 600 per delivery, instead of the previous Rs 300, as per the latest revision.
Kumar stated that the hike aims to recognise the crucial role ASHA and Mamta workers have played in improving health services in rural areas.
"ASHA workers will now be provided with an incentive amount of 3,000 rupees instead of 1,000 rupees. Similarly, Mamta workers will be provided with an incentive amount of 600 rupees per delivery instead of 300 rupees, which will further boost their morale and strengthen health services in rural areas," the CM said in a post on X.

Keeping this in mind and honoring the important contribution of ASHA and Mamta workers in strengthening health services in rural areas, a decision has been made to increase their honorarium," he noted.
Earlier on July 17, the Bihar CM had announced a free electricity scheme for all domestic consumers in the state. The scheme will provide up to 125 units of electricity free of charge every month starting Aug. 1, 2025. The benefit will be reflected in the electricity bills issued for July 2025 and is expected to aid around 1.67 crore households.
In a separate move earlier in July, Kumar also directed the Education Department to assess vacancies in government schools and expedite the process for conducting the fourth Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE 4), according to a report by NDTV.
