Bihar concludes first phase of voting with highest-ever voter turnout at 64.46%
The voter turnout for the first phase of voting in the state of Bihar was recorded at the highest level ever at 64.46%, as per Chief Election Commission.
Phirst phase of voting in Bihar has come to a close, although those standing in the queue will be allowed to vote. The state's voter turnout has already crossed 2020 election numbers.
Voter turnout in Bihar as of 5 p.m. was at 60.13% with Begusarai in the lead at 67.32% voter turnout, closely followed by Samastipur at 66.65%.

Begusarai's voter turnout stands at 46.02% so far, the highest among all districts. On the other hand, Bihar's capital city Patna ranked the lowest in voter turnout trends with only 37.72% turnout.

Rashtriya Janata Dal on Thursday posted a video on Social Media platform X and alleged police brutality in households locaed near certain booth numbers. The social media psot read, "At booth no. 106, 107, 108 of Mohiuddinagar assembly constituency, police personnel have entered different households and are brutally beating and threatening voters without any valid reason."

In the first phase, a total of 3.75 crore voters will decide the electoral fate of 1,314 candidates, including top leaders such as INDIA bloc's chief ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav and Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary of the BJP.
In a social media post on X, PM Modi wrote, ""Today is the first phase of the festival of democracy in Bihar. My appeal to all voters in this phase is that they should vote with full enthusiasm. On this occasion, my special congratulations to all young voters of the state who are going to cast their vote for the first time..."
