BESCOM Announces Power Cut In These Places On Jan 17; Check If Your Area Is Affected
Many localities in Bengaluru, including commercial and residential areas, will have no power supply on Jan. 17
Several areas in Bengaluru are going to experience power outages on Friday, Jan. 17 due to maintenance work by the Public Works Department. According to the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM), many localities in the city, including commercial and residential areas, will have no power supply from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Jan. 17.
Bengaluru Power Cut Today: Will Your Area Be Affected?
BESCOM will be carrying out maintenance work to relocate power lines and poles as part of the Public Works Department's project to widen Shiv Circle to Kolar Road.
This maintenance work will be carried out in areas like Kempapura Road, Shiv Circle, Vijayapura Town, Yelavalli, Gurappa Math, Mittanahalli, Kolar Road, Mavijaipur Police Station Road, and surrounding areas. As a result, these areas will experience a power outage on Friday, which is supposed to last several hours.
However, BESCOM has said that irrigation pumplets will remain powered during the replacement work.
“Details of power failure in BESCOM range on January 16 and 17, 2025,” the electricity supply board said in a post on X, originally in Kannada, attaching information about the outages in an image.
Power Outage Engulfs Bengaluru
Earlier on Jan. 16, power outages were experienced in over 100 areas across the city.
Localities like Old Baiyappanahalli, Nagenapalya, Satyanagar, Gajendranagar, S Kumar Layout, Andhra Bank Road, Cookson Road, Davis Road, Oil Mill Road, Sadashiva Temple Road, Kammanahalli Main Road, KHB Colony, Jaibharat Nagar, CK Garden, D'Costa Layout, Hutchins Road, North Road, Wheeler Road, Ashoka Road, Banasawadi Railway Station Road and Vivekananda Nagar experienced power outages from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The power outage on Jan. 16 was a result of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) carrying out emergency maintenance work at the 66/11KV Pottery Road station.
BESCOM issued a warning regarding the power cut and asked residents in these areas to plan their day and take necessary steps to minimise the inconvenience caused due to it.
